Job description

Our client is an independent reputable accountancy firm servicing the Norfolk region for well over a decade. They offer a personal, collaborative and supportive working environment where their staff are treated as equals and not as commodities.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented experienced individual from practice to join the team to undertake Assistant Accountant and Bookkeeping responsibilities.

The successful candidate will be involved in bookkeeping, year-end accounts preparation, VAT returns, and general client accounting support, working closely with a range of owner-managed businesses and SMEs.

Key Responsibilities

Maintaining accurate bookkeeping records for a portfolio of clients.
Preparing VAT returns
Assisting with and preparing year-end accounts up to trial balance and final accounts stage.
Liaising directly with clients to resolve accounting queries.
Processing bank reconciliations, journals, accruals, and prepayments.
Supporting senior team members with accounts preparation and client work.
Ensuring work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
Working with cloud accounting software to support clients and maintain financial records.

This is an ideal post for an experienced practice-based Bookkeeper or Accounts Assistant who is looking to be a key team member - not just another number - and truly add value to clients in an established and forward-thinking accountancy firm.

About You: To be successful in this role, you will have:

Previous experience working within an accountancy practice environment - essential
AAT Level 3 or Level 4 qualification.
Experience preparing a full set of accounts for a variety of clients.
Solid bookkeeping skills and a strong understanding of accounting principles.
Experience working with clients across a range of sectors and industries.
Proficiency with Xero, Iris and QuickBooks.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
The ability to manage multiple client deadlines effectively.
