Job description
We are looking for an experienced Legal Assistant to join our Litigation team, providing high-quality administrative and legal support to Fee Earners and helping to ensure that client matters are progressed efficiently and professionally.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive administrative and legal support to Fee Earners within the Litigation team
Manage and progress client matters accurately and efficiently using the firm's case management system
Open, organise, maintain and archive legal files and supporting documentation
Assist with the preparation and organisation of legal correspondence and documentation
Prepare letters and other client correspondence using audio typing, word processing and digital dictation
Manage Fee Earners' diaries, including arranging client appointments, meetings and other commitments
Deal professionally and efficiently with incoming telephone calls, client enquiries and third-party communications
Monitor and manage incoming emails, post, photocopying and general administrative tasks
Prepare court documentation, including electronic bundles and other documents required for hearings
Assist with the preparation of client bills and maintain accurate account ledgers
Ensure all work is completed in accordance with internal procedures, professional standards and regulatory requirements
Maintain confidentiality and security of all client and firm information
Provide support to other Legal Assistants, Fee Earners and the wider management team when required
Skills & Experience
Previous experience working as a Legal Assistant, Legal Secretary or similar role within a Litigation department
Good understanding of legal terminology and litigation processes
Strong administrative and organisational skills
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Confident verbal and written communication skills
A professional, approachable and client-focused manner
The ability to prioritise workloads and manage competing deadlines
Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office
Experience using a legal case management system would be advantageous
Experience with audio typing or digital dictation would be beneficial
The ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a wider team
