Job description
Assistant Accountant Rotherham, South Yorkshire We are working with a well-established and growing organisation to recruit an Assistant Accountant to join their finance team.
This is a varied opportunity for an accounting professional looking to get involved across day-to-day finance, financial administration, reconciliations, and management accounts prep.
Working closely with the Finance Manager and wider finance team, you will help maintain accurate financial records and support the preparation of financial information.
Key Responsibilities:
Process and maintain accurate financial transactions and accounting records.
Complete day-to-day finance and accounting activities across the organisation.
Maintain and update financial information using the organisation's accounting systems.
Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
Support the Finance Manager with month-end processes and reporting.
Assist with balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
Prepare and process journals and other month-end adjustments where required.
Support with VAT and HMRC-related accounting requirements.
Carry out regular checks to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data.
Assist with the preparation of financial reports, schedules, and supporting information.
Ensure financial processes are completed in line with relevant policies and procedures.
Assist with resolving finance queries across the wider organisation.
Provide general support to the Finance Manager and wider finance team as required.
We're looking for:
Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Assistant or similar finance role.
Experience of day-to-day accounting and financial administration.
Exposure to month-end and management accounts.
Good understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
Strong numerical and analytical skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
The ability to work independently as well as part of a wider finance team.
An AAT qualification, or willingness to study towards one, would be advantageous.
