People & Operations Assistant

Caversham, Reading £28,000 - £32,000 per annum Full-time Office-based (5 days per week)

Reed HR are delighted to be partnering with a growing and people-focused organisation in Caversham to recruit a People & Operations Assistant.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive HR professional looking to develop their career within a busy and supportive People team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the employee lifecycle, ensuring HR administration is delivered accurately, efficiently and confidentially.

The Role

Reporting to the People & Operations Manager, you will provide comprehensive administrative support across all areas of HR and People Operations. This varied position offers exposure to recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, payroll administration, training coordination and HR projects.

Key responsibilities include:

Maintaining employee records and HR systems, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.
Supporting recruitment activities, onboarding and offboarding processes.
Preparing HR documentation including contracts, letters and employee correspondence.
Assisting with payroll administration and monthly payroll inputs.
Monitoring and maintaining holiday and sickness absence records.
Coordinating training activities and compliance requirements.
Responding to employee and manager queries in a professional and timely manner.
Supporting the review and maintenance of company policies and procedures.
Assisting with employee relations processes and case administration.
Producing HR reports and management information as required.
Supporting wider People projects and initiatives across the business.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Previous experience within an HR Administration, HR Assistant or People Coordinator role.
Good knowledge of HR practices and employment legislation.
Strong administrative and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
A professional and confidential approach to handling sensitive information.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office applications.
The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
A proactive approach with strong problem-solving skills.
Payroll administration experience would be advantageous.
CIPD Level 3 qualification or working towards this would be desirable but is not essential.
