Accounts Assistant - Sheerness
We are recruiting an experienced Accounts Assistant to join a busy and established finance team based in Sheerness. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong transactional finance experience who enjoys working in a varied role and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of a finance function.
The successful candidate will have previous finance experience, strong reconciliation skills, and be comfortable working to deadlines within a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Tasks
•Produce monthly stock-related reports.
•Complete monthly supplier statement reconciliations to strict deadlines.
•Code and process company credit card transactions on a monthly basis.
•Maintain and process monthly mileage records.
•Process weekly stock usage and post stock and mileage batches.
•Conduct weekly subcontractor insurance checks.
•Check weekly payroll information for accuracy.
•Process weekly timesheets.
Additional Responsibilities
•Support Purchase Ledger activities, including invoice processing and approvals.
•Assist with Purchase Ledger bank reconciliations.
•Support Sales Ledger invoicing activities.
•Assist with Sales Ledger forecasting where required.
•Provide cover for colleagues during periods of holiday or absence.
•Support month-end processes to ensure reporting deadlines are achieved.
•Carry out any other reasonable duties to support the efficient operation of the finance department.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
•Previous experience working in a finance or accounts position.
•Experience completing account reconciliations.
•Strong IT skills, including advanced Excel knowledge with VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables.
•Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.
•Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
•The ability to manage workload effectively and work to deadlines.
•A proactive and flexible approach to supporting the wider finance team.
Desirable
•AAT qualification or equivalent finance qualification (advantageous but not essential).
•Experience within a busy SME or commercial finance environment.
•Exposure to stock-related accounting processes.
