Role overview
Western Road Surgery is looking for a part time receptionist to join our friendly administration team. The hours are open for discussion with a Monday being a priority.
Western Road Surgery has a supportive and welcoming environment, supported by a manager and a GP partner sitting in reception giving the support and advice needed to run the surgery smoothly You will work with a team of 5 or 6 receptionists each day to manage the front of house for a busy GP surgery, including but not limited to: booking appointments, sharing test results, arranging prescriptions, processing hospital letters and other documentation, general tidying of reception areas and supporting the clinical teams Assist patients in booking their appointment, either by filling in triage forms, booking their appointments or liaising with the GP to get the care they need Process hospital letters and other documentation to ensure correct record keeping of medical notes, ensuring the letters are sent to our clinical team for reading and actioning Process prescriptions in a timely manner for the GPs to sign and send to the pharmacy. This includes emptying the prescription box (paper prescriptions), online prescriptions or triage requests Book home visits, or other appointments via our Primary Care Network channels Answer the phone and deal with patient requests.
Deal with patients at the reception desk by checking them in, printing off sample forms or handling cash for private work Support the clinical team by liaising with the nurses, GPs or partners Support the managerial team if opening up the surgery in the morning in line with surgery policies and protocols Answer emails in the reception inbox and forward on appropriately Check the post box and hand the post to the secretarial team Support the on call and triage GP by booking triage appointments, arranging appointments from outside organisations or liaising with patients to direct their care
