Role overview
Chelsfield Surgery is looking for two friendly, organised and patient-focused Medical Receptionist to join our busy and supportive GP practice team. As the first point of contact for patients, you will play a key role in delivering excellent customer service, managing appointments, handling telephone and face-to-face enquiries, processing administrative tasks and supporting the wider multidisciplinary team.
We are seeking someone with excellent communication skills, strong IT abilities and a professional, caring approach. Previous receptionist or administrative experience is essential, and experience within a GP practice or healthcare setting would be advantageous.
Training will be provided for the right candidate. This is a permanent part-time position of 16-17 hours per week, with flexibility required to cover annual leave and occasional additional shifts when needed.

As the first point of contact for patients, you will provide a welcoming and efficient reception service both face-to-face and over the telephone.
You will be responsible for managing appointments, handling patient enquiries, processing registrations, maintaining patient records and supporting the wider clinical and administrative teams. Greet and assist patients at reception.
Answer and manage telephone enquiries professionally. Book, amend and cancel patient appointments.

Signpost patients to the most appropriate service. Process patient registrations and update patient records.
Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence. Process referrals and administrative requests in line with practice procedures.
Support clinicians and colleagues with general administrative tasks. Maintain confidentiality, data security and information governance standards.
Contribute to a positive patient experience and effective team working. We are looking for someone who: Has excellent communication and customer service skills.
Is confident using IT systems, Microsoft Office and Outlook. Can work effectively under pressure in a busy environment.
Has strong organisational and time management skills. Enjoys working as part of a team.
Is flexible, reliable and professional. Previous receptionist, administrative or customer service experience is essential.
Experience within a GP practice, NHS or healthcare setting and knowledge of EMIS would be advantageous.
