The Senior Medical Receptionist supports the Reception Supervisor by acting as a point of escalation for complex queries, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring smooth daily administration across both practice sites. Patient Services & Escalations Resolve complex patient queries and handle sensitive or difficult situations at the front desk calmly and professionally.

Coordinate the appointment system, ensuring optimum utilization of clinics and managing urgent, "squeeze-in" requests with the duty doctor. Act as a main point of contact for external healthcare professionals, social services, and ambulance crews.

Assist in training, mentoring, and onboarding new medical receptionists. Provide day-to-day guidance to the reception team, ensuring practice policies and protocols are strictly followed.

Support the Supervisor in managing staff rotas and arranging cover during staff absences or peak periods. Maintain data integrity within the clinical system (EMIS Web), ensuring accurate registration of new patients and updating of records.

Monitor and manage digital queues and online consultations (e.g., Accurx, eConsult). Process repeat prescription requests and route incoming clinical mail, workflow tasks, and results efficiently to the medical team.

Open and close the surgery sites securely in accordance with practice procedures. Maintain a clean, welcoming, and safe reception and waiting area environment.
