Role overview
We are seeking a professional, motivated, and compassionate Medical Receptionist to join our busy and friendly GP Surgery on a permanent basis working 24 hours a week. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing a high-quality reception and administrative service to support the delivery of patient care.
This is a key role within the surgery and requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. You will be comfortable interacting with the public on the telephone and face to face with a professional and friendly approach.
The busy working environment and diverse role presents an opportunity for someone that is eager to learn and work effectively as part of a team. You will have a comprehensive induction with full training for the role.

Manage appointment bookings, cancellations, and enquiries via telephone, online and in person. Process patient requests in accordance with practice protocols.

Register new patients and maintain accurate patient records using the clinical system. Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence.
Liaise with GPs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth patient flow. Maintain strict confidentiality at all times in line with GDPR and NHS policies.
Support the practice team with general administrative duties as required. Main Duties & Responsibilities Reception desk - greet patients and respond to all enquiries Patient Contact - respond to patient requests via telephone, online and in person Appointment management - book patient appointments in accordance with surgery protocols Management of medical records Preparation of consulting rooms Administration of forms and documentation Computer Systems - use electronic systems to support with the communication and management of patient requests and medical records Confidentiality - maintain strict confidentiality at all times in line with GDPR and Surgery policies.
All responsibilities are shared across the team on a daily rota basis.
