Role overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and detail oriented Finance Administrator to join our busy Finance Team on a fixed-term basis to provide maternity cover. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator with finance experience to contribute to the efficient completion of the practice's financial processes in a supportive and collaborative environment.
The role will work closely alongside our existing experienced finance team and the Head of Finance & Information in ensuring the thorough and accurate recording and reconciliation of the practice's finances. Hours per week: 30 - 37.
5 Contract Duration: 12 months (Maternity cover) Working Pattern: Flexible but must work Monday Interviews will be held on: 29th October 2026 Has previous experience in a finance, bookkeeping or accounting role Possesses excellent organisational skills and keen attention to detail Is confident using Xero, Microsoft Excel, Sage 50 Payroll and other Microsoft Office applications Has strong numerical and data entry skills Can manage competing priorities and meet deadlines Demonstrates professionalism, integrity and confidentiality Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills Experience of NHS finance systems or primary care settings would be advantageous but is not essential Duties and Responsibilites The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by the Finance Administrator may include any or all of the items in the following list. Duties may be varied from time to time under the direction of the Management Team.
All duties are to be carried out professionally. Monthly bank reconciliation using Xero Accounting software Invoice production Purchase ledger control Accurate recording of VAT giving consideration to the complex nature of GP VAT rules Support the Finance, Payroll and Pension Administrator with payroll calculations and payments Petty cash management Supporting our Data Quality Administrator with monthly drug invoice inspection and entry Creation and reconciliation of bank payment batches using Lloyds Commercial Banking Credit card reconciliation Practice procurement Liaise with practice accountants Maintain various finance reconciliation spreadsheets Highlight missing or inaccurate financial claims Support the Head of Finance with Enhanced Services searches and claims Income monitoring including reconciling monthly GMS statements and NHS income Monitoring the Finance email inbox and highlighting/forwarding incoming emails appropriately to Finance, Payroll and Pension Administrator or Head of Finance Other general administrative duties Confidentiality In the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust us with, or allow us to gather, sensitive information in relation to their health and other matters.
