Job description

The Opportunity

We are supporting a growing Bristol-based organisation seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant to provide additional support during a busy period within the finance team. This is a hands-on role supporting both purchase and sales ledger activities, reconciliations and month-end processes.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative finance function and play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting throughout the contract period.

Key Responsibilities

Processing supplier invoices and matching to purchase orders.
Raising sales invoices and allocating customer receipts.
Reconciling supplier statements and resolving queries.
Supporting credit control activities and debt collection.
Processing employee expenses.
Assisting with bank reconciliations and cashbook management.
Supporting month-end close activities, including accruals and prepayments.
Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting audit requirements.
Liaising with internal stakeholders regarding invoice approvals and payment queries.
Assisting with process improvements and administrative support across the wider finance team.

Candidate Requirements

Previous experience within an Accounts Assistant or Finance Assistant role.
Strong understanding of purchase ledger and sales ledger processes.
Good Excel skills including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables.
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
Ability to manage workload independently and meet deadlines.
Experience using ERP or finance systems.

Desirable

AAT qualified or studying.
Experience within a high-volume finance environment.
