Job description

NXTGEN Recruitment are pleased to be working with a well-established and successful business based in Larling, Norfolk, who are looking to recruit an experienced Sales & Purchase Ledger Assistant to support their busy finance team on a temporary basis.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong background in transactional finance who enjoys a varied, hands-on role and is confident managing both sales and purchase ledger processes. You'll be joining a friendly, hardworking team within a family-run business, where accuracy, organisation and a proactive approach are highly valued.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, managing their workload and ensuring day-to-day finance processes run smoothly.

Key responsibilities will include:

Processing purchase invoices, ensuring accuracy and correct allocation.
Managing sales ledger transactions, including raising and processing sales invoices.
Reconciling supplier statements and resolving invoice or payment discrepancies.
Monitoring outstanding customer balances and assisting with debtor management.
Completing bank and credit card reconciliations.
Preparing supplier payments, including multi-currency transactions.
Supporting with VAT returns and month-end reporting.
Maintaining accurate financial records and assisting the wider finance team with ad hoc tasks.

What we're looking for:

Previous experience in a sales ledger, purchase ledger or accounts assistant position.
Confident using Sage 50, with previous hands-on experience highly desirable.
Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy when processing financial transactions.
Good Excel skills and confidence working with accounting systems.
Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage deadlines.
A positive, flexible approach and willingness to get involved wherever needed.
