Job description

We are looking for an organised, professional and customer-focused Call Handler to join our busy and friendly team.

We are one of the leading specialist contractors in the South East, providing a wide range of services to both private clients and high-compliance public sector organisations, including MOD sites, local authorities and housing associations.

Our expertise covers Mechanical, Electrical, Solar Thermal, Eco Home Retrofits, and Planned & Responsive Maintenance.

Our highly skilled engineers deliver planned, preventative and responsive maintenance, alongside Legionella Testing and Compliance. We are proud of our fantastic team and the high standards they maintain, ensuring our clients consistently receive a quality, dependable service.

The Role

As a Call Handler, you will be an important first point of contact for our clients, residents and customers. You will be responsible for handling incoming calls, accurately recording maintenance and repair requests, and ensuring jobs are passed to the appropriate teams efficiently.

Working within a fast-paced maintenance environment, you will need to remain calm and professional while managing a varied workload and providing an excellent level of customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Answer incoming calls in a professional, friendly and efficient manner
Act as a first point of contact for clients, residents and customers
Log maintenance, repair and service requests accurately onto our systems
Gather the correct information to help identify the nature and priority of each job
Liaise with engineers, supervisors and other members of the operations team
Provide customers with updates regarding ongoing works and appointments
Handle queries and complaints professionally and sensitively
Ensure urgent and emergency requests are escalated appropriately
Maintain accurate records and update job information as required
Support the wider office and operations team with general administrative duties
Help ensure our clients receive the reliable, high-quality service we pride ourselves on

About You

We are looking for someone who is confident communicating with a wide range of people and who genuinely enjoys providing excellent customer service.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

Previous experience in a call handling, customer service or administrative role
Excellent telephone manner and communication skills
Strong attention to detail and accurate data-entry skills
Good organisational and time-management skills
The ability to prioritise workloads in a busy environment
A calm and professional approach when dealing with challenging or urgent calls
Good IT skills and confidence using computer-based systems
A positive, proactive attitude and the ability to work well as part of a team

Previous experience within repairs, maintenance, housing, facilities management or a contractor environment would be advantageous, although training can be provided for the right candidate.
