Business Support Officer

Hourly Rate: 14.59 per hour Location: Darby House, Telford, TF3 4 JA / Hybrid Working Available Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday Contract: Temporary basis, up to 6 months

About the Role

Opus People Solutions are recruiting on behalf of Telford and Wrekin Council for a Business Support Officer to join the Children's Social Care Service. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator to provide high-quality business support within a fast-paced and rewarding environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the service through effective administration, coordination, and communication. You will be highly organised, possess excellent attention to detail, and be confident managing a varied workload while supporting professionals across the service.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain accurate records, databases, and filing systems in accordance with organisational procedures.
Manage shared inboxes and diaries, prioritising appointments and responding to enquiries efficiently.
Organise meetings, conferences, and room bookings, ensuring all necessary arrangements and documentation are in place.
Attend meetings in person and accurately record, produce, and distribute detailed minutes within agreed timescales.
Prepare and process routine correspondence, reports, documents, and presentations to support operational teams.
Update and maintain information across a range of systems to ensure data accuracy and compliance.
Provide professional administrative support to managers and staff within Children's Social Care.
Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Liaise effectively with internal departments, external agencies, and service users.

Essential Experience and Skills

To be successful in this role, you must have:

Strong previous experience in an administrative or business support role.
Proven experience of taking accurate and detailed typed minutes during meetings in person.
Experience using Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate work.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage professionally with a wide range of stakeholders.
Experience managing diaries, inboxes, meetings, and complex administrative processes.
The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
Experience maintaining confidential information and handling sensitive data appropriately.

Desirable Experience

Previous experience working within a local authority, public sector organisation, or Children's Social Care environment.
Familiarity with case management or document management systems.
