Job description

Assistant Accountant

Salary: £30,000 per annum + performance-related bonus Location: Office-based Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday

Are you an organised and detail-focused finance professional looking to develop your accounting career? We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join a growing and successful business, supporting a busy finance function across purchase ledger, reporting, reconciliations, payroll support, and month-end processes.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain broad exposure within a supportive team environment, with training provided and opportunities for professional development.

This position is being recruited on a temporary to permanent contract.

Key Responsibilities

Process supplier invoices, credit notes, and payments
Maintain accurate purchase ledger records and supplier accounts
Reconcile supplier statements and resolve account queries
Process and review employee expenses and company credit card transactions
Complete bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
Assist with month-end activities, including accruals and prepayments
Support the preparation of management accounts
Prepare quarterly VAT returns
Assist with payroll processing and P11 D administration
Support year-end accounting activities and audits

About You

Previous experience in an accounts, finance, or assistant accountant role
Strong attention to detail and excellent numerical accuracy
Well-organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Confident working independently and as part of a team
Experience with Sage 200 would be advantageous but is not essential
AAT qualification or accountancy studies would be beneficial
