A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a proactive and detail-focused Finance Assistant to join a growing business in Hoddesdon. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you'll play a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of the finance function, ensuring transactions are processed accurately and efficiently whilst contributing to ongoing process improvements.
This role offers exposure across both purchase and sales ledger, reconciliations, reporting, month-end activities and year-end support, making it an excellent opportunity for someone looking to further develop their accounting career.
Key Responsibilities
•Processing sales invoices, including staged and prepayment invoices
•Managing daily credit control and customer account reconciliations
•Processing and maintaining Accounts Payable invoices through the ERP system
•Reconciling supplier accounts and resolving invoice queries
•Preparing weekly payment runs for review and approval
•Reviewing aged creditor reports and investigating anomalies
•Assisting with month-end tasks including accruals, prepayments and journals
•Supporting year-end accounts preparation and external audits
•Producing weekly and monthly management reports
•Maintaining accurate accounting records in line with company controls and procedures
•Supporting the maintenance of manufactured and purchased part number records
•Identifying opportunities to improve processes and efficiencies across the finance function
•Assisting with ad hoc finance duties as required
About You
•Previous experience within a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant or similar role
•Strong understanding of purchase ledger, sales ledger or even better both
•Experience completing supplier and balance sheet reconciliations
•Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
•Ability to work independently and use initiative
•Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
•Positive, proactive and willing to take ownership of tasks through to completion
•AAT studier - would be a plus
