Role Summary
We are looking for an organised and proactive People & Payroll Administrator to work for our client. Providing administrative and operational support across our Payroll, Talent and People Operations function.
This is a varied role combining People/HR administration with hands-on payroll processing, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working across different areas of the employee lifecycle.
Working closely with the Performance & Learning Partner, with a dotted reporting line to the Compensation & Benefits Manager for payroll activities, you will play an important role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the People function.
A key part of the position will be supporting the Group Payroll Partner with weekly payroll processing and providing full payroll cover during periods of absence. You will therefore need previous payroll processing experience and the confidence to take ownership when required.
Key ResponsibilitiesPeople & Team Administration
•Provide accurate and efficient day-to-day administrative support across the Talent and People Operations team.
•Manage shared People team inboxes, ensuring queries are reviewed, prioritised and either resolved or directed to the appropriate person.
•Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and People data.
•Prepare employee and company communications, ensuring information is clear, professional and accurate.
•Support the organisation of meetings, training sessions, team events and other People initiatives.
•Assist with departmental projects and wider People activities.
•Provide additional administrative support as team priorities and business requirements evolve.
Payroll
•Support the Group Payroll Partner with the accurate and timely processing of the weekly payroll.
•Process payroll information including starters, leavers, employee changes and other payroll amendments.
•Provide full payroll processing cover when the Group Payroll Partner is absent, ensuring payroll continues to run accurately and to agreed deadlines.
•Respond to payroll queries and work with employees and internal stakeholders to resolve issues.
•Maintain accurate payroll records and identify any discrepancies, missing information or potential issues at an early stage.
•Ensure payroll information is handled confidentially and in accordance with internal processes and data protection requirements.
Systems, Data & Reporting
•Support the production of monthly People reports and management information.
•Maintain accurate employee information across HR and payroll systems.
•Assist with system administration, campaigns and updates across platforms including Atlas Recruit, Ascend Learning, Applaud Recognition and Payroll systems.
•Produce straightforward reports and collate data as required by the wider People team.
•Carry out regular checks to maintain high levels of data accuracy and integrity.
Experience & Skills
We are looking for someone who has:
•Previous experience within a People/HR, Payroll or People Operations administration role.
•Practical experience of supporting or processing payroll.
•Experience processing starters, leavers and employee/payroll changes.
•The confidence and knowledge to provide payroll processing cover when required.
•Strong administrative and organisational skills.
•Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy when working with employee and payroll data.
•Good Excel and general Microsoft Office skills.
•Experience working with HRIS, payroll or other employee management systems.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills.
•The ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines.
•A professional and discreet approach when handling confidential employee and payroll information.
•A proactive attitude and willingness to support different areas of the People function.
Desirable Experience
It would be advantageous, although not essential, to have:
•Experience of weekly payroll processing.
•Previous experience within a multi-site or group business.
•Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, learning & development or employee engagement activities.
•Experience producing People/HR reports and working with employee data.
