This is a full-time, office-based position and would suit someone who already has practical experience running payrolls and is looking to develop their career within a friendly, established accountancy practice.

You will be responsible for managing payrolls for a portfolio of clients, covering businesses of different sizes and pay frequencies.

Key responsibilities

Your role will include:

Processing weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly and monthly payrolls
Calculating salaries, wages, overtime, holiday pay, statutory payments and deductions
Processing starters and leavers
Preparing and submitting RTI returns to HMRC

Processing pension contributions and submissions to pension providers
Dealing with payroll queries from clients and employees
Preparing payroll reports, payslips and other relevant documentation
Keeping payroll records accurate and up to date
Ensuring payroll deadlines are met
Liaising with HMRC and pension providers where required

Experience we're looking for

Previous hands-on payroll experience is essential. You should be comfortable managing payrolls and working to regular deadlines with a high level of accuracy.

Experience with IRIS Elements Payroll would be preferred, although this is not essential. We are very happy to consider applicants who have experience using other payroll software.

Experience dealing with workplace pensions and auto-enrolment is also important.

We're looking for someone who is organised, reliable and comfortable communicating directly with clients.

Qualifications & development

Formal payroll or accountancy qualifications are not essential if you have the right practical experience.

For someone who would like to gain further relevant professional qualifications, we are happy to support your development and fund appropriate qualifications and training.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their payroll career while gaining further qualifications alongside their role.
