Junior Accountant Independent Accountancy Practice

Location: Hertford, Hertfordshire Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

An established independent accountancy practice in Hertford is looking to recruit a Junior Accountant to join its friendly and supportive team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an AAT-qualified, AAT studier or early-stage ACCA/ACA student looking to broaden their experience across bookkeeping, VAT, payroll and accounts preparation whilst working closely with experienced Partners.

The firm supports a diverse client portfolio ranging from owner-managed businesses through to larger groups across sectors including manufacturing, consultancy, IT and marketing.

The Role

Working alongside senior accountants and Partners, you will assist with:

Bookkeeping and client record processing
VAT returns and MTD submissions
Bank reconciliations and journal postings
Assisting with year-end accounts preparation
Processing records through Xero, Sage and QuickBooks
Supporting payroll when required
Liaising with clients and resolving queries
Managing workload to meet client deadlines

The Ideal Candidate

We are keen to hear from candidates who have:

Previous experience within a UK accountancy practice
Bookkeeping and VAT return experience
Knowledge of Xero, Sage or QuickBooks
Strong attention to detail
Excellent communication skills
A positive and proactive attitude
