Job description
Time Appointments are working on behalf of a fantastic, well-established client and specialist in their field, who are looking to welcome an Accounts Assistant to their friendly team based in Clacton-on-Sea.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, highly motivated and detail-oriented finance professional who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and collaborative environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting a range of accounting functions, including purchase ledger, sales ledger and general ledger activities, whilst ensuring the day-to-day finance operations run smoothly and accurately.
Key Duties & Responsibilities Include:
Processing purchase and sales invoices accurately and efficiently
Managing purchase ledger and sales ledger transactions
Matching, coding and processing invoices and dealing with supplier queries
Raising sales invoices and allocating customer payments
Reconciling supplier and customer accounts
Assisting with bank reconciliations and general ledger postings
Processing payments and supporting credit control activities
Assisting with month-end procedures and financial reporting
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records
Investigating and resolving account discrepancies
Assisting with VAT returns and other routine accounting requirements
Providing general administrative support to the wider finance team
Working collaboratively with colleagues across the business to ensure financial processes are completed accurately and on time
Skills & Experience Required:
Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar finance role
Good knowledge of purchase ledger, sales ledger and general ledger processes
Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
Good understanding of basic accounting principles and financial processes
Confident using Microsoft Excel and accounting software, preferably Sage 50
Excellent organisational and time-management skills
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work independently while also being a proactive team player
A methodical and organised approach to work
The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
A positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop
