Job description

Finance Officer - Charity (Part Time)

Part-Time - 21 hours per week Remote Charity Sector

MLC Partners are supporting a fantastic charity in the recruitment of a Part-Time Finance Manager / Financial Accountant to join their team on a remote basis.

This is a broad and hands-on finance position, suited to someone who enjoys combining strong technical accounting with the ability to operate as a strategic finance partner to senior stakeholders. You will take ownership of core financial processes while providing meaningful insight to support planning and decision-making across the organisation.

The Role

Supporting the day-to-day financial operations, ensuring transactions are processed accurately and on time.
Processing purchase and sales invoices, payments, expenses and income.
Completing bank and balance sheet reconciliations and investigating discrepancies.
Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports.
Assisting with budgeting, forecasting and year-end processes.
Maintaining accurate financial records across restricted and unrestricted funds.
Supporting the external audit and providing requested documentation.
Assisting with Charity SORP and other statutory and regulatory reporting requirements.
Working with budget holders to resolve queries and provide clear financial information.
Supporting improvements to finance processes, systems and controls.
Providing ad hoc financial analysis and wider support to the finance team.

Ideal Candidate

You will be an experienced Finance Officer, Finance Assistant or Assistant Accountant, ideally with previous experience within a charity or not-for-profit organisation.

You will have strong transactional finance and reconciliation experience, excellent attention to detail and confidence working with financial systems and Excel. You will be comfortable supporting month-end processes and working with colleagues across the organisation to resolve financial queries.

Experience of charity accounting, Charity SORP, restricted and unrestricted funds, and year-end audit would be particularly advantageous.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a genuinely flexible 21-hour-per-week, fully remote role within a purpose-led organisation.

Please reach out to Sam Rasera at MLC Partners for further information.
