Paralegal / Legal Services Assistant / Legal Officer

3-Month Temporary Contract £20.29 per hour PAYE Hybrid Working

Are you looking for your next opportunity in a legal support role within a friendly and professional Local Authority environment?

We're working with a well-established Council that is seeking a Legal Services Assistant / Legal Officer to join their team on an initial 3-month temporary contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable public sector experience, work on a varied caseload, and be part of a team that plays a key role in supporting local services and communities.

What you'll be doing

No two days are quite the same. You'll be supporting experienced lawyers and helping to ensure legal matters are progressed efficiently and effectively. Responsibilities will include:

Assisting with a varied caseload across different areas of legal work
Preparing and managing legal documentation and correspondence
Liaising with Council departments, clients, and external stakeholders
Maintaining accurate records using case management systems
Providing updates on the progress of matters and responding to queries
Supporting legal professionals with research, administration, and case preparation
Ensuring all work is completed in line with GDPR, confidentiality requirements, and Council policies

What we're looking for

Experience within a legal, local government, public sector, or professional services environment
Strong administrative and organisational skills
Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
Confidence using IT systems and databases
Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to work
Experience dealing with sensitive and confidential information
