Job description

Payroll Administrator £35,000-£38,000 + benefits London Highly flexible working Full-time Fixed term to permanent

I'm working with a growing accountancy firm that is looking to appoint an experienced Payroll Administrator to support a varied portfolio of clients.

This is a strong opportunity for someone with solid UK payroll experience from practice who enjoys taking ownership of client payrolls, managing deadlines and working directly with clients.

The role is attached to the firm's London office, with a flexible approach to working patterns. Initially, there would likely be some office time to get embedded with the team and clients, but once settled, the role can become very remote-friendly, with many weeks potentially requiring only limited office attendance.

The Role

As Payroll Administrator, you will process end-to-end monthly payrolls for a portfolio of clients, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely delivery.

Responsibilities will include:

Processing end-to-end monthly payrolls for multiple clients
Managing starters, leavers and employment detail changes
Preparing and submitting RTI returns, including FPS and EPS
Dealing with HMRC payroll correspondence
Processing statutory payments including SSP, SMP and SAP
Supporting pension auto-enrolment administration
Assisting with payroll queries from clients
Ensuring payrolls are accurate, confidential and delivered to deadline
Using Sage payroll software

What They're Looking For

The firm is keen to speak with experienced payroll professionals who are organised, accurate and comfortable working in a client-facing role.

You will ideally have:

At least 4 years' hands-on UK payroll experience
Payroll experience gained within an accountancy practice
Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, RTI and HMRC requirements
Experience using Sage payroll software
Good understanding of statutory payments and pension auto-enrolment
Excellent attention to detail and confidentiality
Strong communication skills
The ability to manage multiple deadlines across a client portfolio

Why Apply?

This is a great opportunity to join a professional and flexible accountancy firm in a hands-on payroll role with genuine client contact and ownership.

The package includes:

£35,000-£38,000 + benefits
Highly flexible working once settled
London office base
Varied client payroll portfolio
Full-time, fixed term to permanent role
ASAP start available
Strong autonomy and client contact

This would suit an experienced Payroll Administrator or Senior Payroll Administrator from a bureau or accountancy practice background who wants a flexible, client-facing role with a strong level of ownership.

As an employer, we are committed to ensuring the representation of people from all backgrounds regardless of their gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, race, religion, ethnicity, age, neurodiversity, disability status, or any other aspect which makes them unique. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds to apply and would encourage you to let us know if there are steps, we can take to ensure that your recruitment process enables you to present yourself in a way that makes you comfortable.
