Job description

About the Role

We are looking for a friendly, professional, and organised Receptionist to join our team across our Surrey hospital sites in Epsom and Cobham. As the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and healthcare professionals, you will play a key role in delivering an excellent patient experience while supporting the smooth day-to-day running of reception services.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong customer service skills who enjoys working in a busy healthcare environment. Previous reception experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

Provide a warm, professional welcome to patients, visitors, and staff.
Manage reception and front-of-house duties.
Answer and direct telephone enquiries.
Handle patient queries and escalate where appropriate.
Maintain electronic patient records, correspondence, and test results.
Process referrals and requests using the Patient Administration System (PAS).
Book, amend, and confirm patient appointments.
Liaise with GP surgeries, healthcare professionals, and other departments.
Manage outgoing post and correspondence.
Support appointment schedules to reduce cancellations and delays.
Escort patients and visitors when required.
Open and close hospital sites when rostered.
Work closely with reception, customer service, and clinical teams.
Undertake additional duties as required.

Requirements

Essential

Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to prioritise and work effectively under pressure.
Competent with Microsoft Office and computer systems.
Flexible to work across sites in Epsom and Cobham.
Available to work shifts between 7:00am and 7:00pm, Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturdays.
Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available).

Desirable

Previous reception or administration experience.
Experience within a healthcare or hospital setting.
Understanding of patient confidentiality.
Driving licence and access to transport.
